Zelenskyy, Sunak discuss arms, peace formula, says President’s Office

The Ukrainian leader also expressed gratitude to the British people and to PM Sunark personally for providing comprehensive support to Ukraine in countering Russian aggression.

The Ukrainian president also briefed the British prime minister on the situation on the frontline and the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ key needs in terms of weapons and military equipment. He emphasized the importance for Ukraine to receive the necessary weapons from allies to stop the Russian offensive and liberate all occupied Ukrainian territories.

During the meeting, Zelenskyy and Sunak likewise addressed the implementation of the Peace Formula, proposed by Zelenskyy as a way to end the ongoing Russian war against Ukraine, Ukraine’s possible membership in NATO, future support from the United Kingdom, the possibility of involving the British side in rebuilding Ukraine after the war, as well as several other projects.

In addition, the two leaders separately touched on the issue of preventing Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

The news that the Ukrainian president would pay an official visit to London only surfaced on Feb. 8. This is his second foreign visit after a trip to the United States, and his first visit to the United Kingdom since the outbreak of the full-scale war.
