Today there was small boat activity mostly in the north and northwest area of the Vaquita Refuge.

Around 13:20 we spotted a small boat in the north part of the Extension. We flew the drone and saw they were stationary with two nets on board and a line of one of the nets going in the water. We contacted the Navy and at 14:00 we spotted two markers of a net in the water; at 14:30 they seemed to have finished retrieving the net but started to move in circles, probably because the net was stuck in a block. The Interceptor arrived at the area around 15:00, approached the panga and after 10 min the fishermen left the net with a marker and then both left the area. The Interceptor headed to check on other small boats in the area. At 15:23 the small boat started heading towards us after we approached the marker of their net. They started dragging a hook to grab the net, and at 15:39 they started pulling it in. The Interceptor came back and approached to them shortly after; they started to pull the net from the other end trying to retrieve as much as they could from it. Around 16:30 they both finished, the panga left to San Felipe and the Interceptor stayed in the area for 10 more minutes before heading back to port.
